The tale begins, as most do, many millenia ago in a land known as Teyvat. It was originally a land of dragons, led by Nibelung himself. For a long while, they lived in peace and prosperity.
Then the Usurpers descended, waging war against the dragons in an attempt to claim the land and powers of Teyvat for themselves. Despite the best efforts of the original inhabitants of Teyvat, the dragons were driven out or brutally slaughtered.
( a pause here for dramatic effect. are you still with him, buddy? )
Could you not say the same about humankind? While I cannot say that all dragons are wholly blameless, humans are not free of fault themselves. Should they not also receive their fair share of time as villains?
oh no definitely but we were talking about dragons at the time buuuuut humans are selfish and overzealous, they think they can just take from everything and everyone this is why there’s so many stories of gods that hate mankind, too

so it's not the dragons doing all the big bad stuff in this story

just random aliens that dropped out of the sky? or did they come out of the sea?? straight out of hell!?

like typically they're jerks that come from the sky and start hoarding treasure and asking for brides or whatever
sometimes they're at war with humans
sometimes they befriend humans
it's a mixed bag but if it breathes fire it's usually a bad guy
